A black hole, a tear in the fabric of space, from which poured forth monstrosities from another world.
Little is known about how or why it appears. Some say this is a new phenomenon, others, that it has manifested throughout history: a portent of death, decay, and doom wherever it spawns. The ice age, the fall of Rome, the inquisition, the black death, the Spanish flu, the Great War — these are but only a handful of disasters that our research suggests may have their roots in the appearance of the Microcosm.
And now, in our twenty-first century, it has appeared again…
